Eco-School

At Fairlawn we are committed to helping our children learn the vital importance of caring for our environment and fostering respect and love of the natural world.

We are passionate about educating children about the global climate crisis and empowering them to make their school more sustainable.

Our Eco-School is made up of children elected from Years 1 to 6 to represent their classes.

As an Eco-School we aim:

  • To develop an awareness of environmental issues across the school.
  • To promote environmental issues and raise awareness among the wider community.
  • To become a more sustainable school.
  • To give children a voice to express their opinion about environmental issues.

Our Eco-School members have been involved in litter picking, campaigning assemblies, letter writing campaigns and recycling.

Environmental issues are also embedded in our curriculum through our Tomorrow’s World topic. During this topic, children across the whole school focus on an area of environmental sustainability.
